For the last 25 years, Karen Friedman has represented motorists and trucking companies throughout New York State. She has tried thousands of speeding tickets involving underage motorists, motorists under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and drivers speeding in school or construction zones.

Motorists convicted of speeding tickets face many issues. The most obvious is license suspension or revocation. In addition, insurance rates can skyrocket with motorists in assigned risk paying $10,000 annually per car. There are also fines and driver assessment fees to consider.

If you receive a summons in New York City, Buffalo or Rochester, your hearing will be held before a Traffic Violations Bureau administrative law judge. This A.L.J. will hear the facts of the case and decide whether to take any license action. If your hearing is held outside of these locations, and you acquire 11 or more points in an 18-month period, the Department of Motor Vehicles will send you a letter asking if you will accept a suspension of your driver's license for "x" number of days, or if you want a safety hearing. Your chances of success at a hearing are better if you bring an attorney with you to court.
